Question by Rupert b: I need help fitting a door to an interior wall? I want to attach a door to the bottom of my stairs to stop my dogs going up the stairs and chewing my carpets. The external wall is Lancashire stone then a space filled with foam and finished off with plasterboard. I did think about a child gate, but the space isn’t wide enough and they can jump straight over it. Any advise on how I would fit it? Question by 757: Should I have hired a carpenter to install interior doors? I hired a handyman to install five interior doors in existing door frames. The old doors were no longer available. These are just hollow, primed six-panel pressed woodgrain doors from HD. The doors needed to be trimmed for width and length. Although he said he had a power planer, it looks like he used it for the side of just one door – that one was trimmed evenly. There are products called ‘rust eater` sealer, etc. which will encapsulate any you can’t remove before you do the finish painting. – Ask at the paint store.
